Lodging & Transfer

Nusa Penida is a much larger island than neighbouring Nusa Lembongan, covering around 200 km². Accommodation is available across the island, with options ranging from budget guesthouses to comfortable hotels and luxury resorts.
Because distances between villages, beaches and dive centres can be significant, renting a scooter is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to get around. Scooter rental generally costs around IDR 100,000–150,000 per day. Keep in mind that some roads can be steep, narrow or uneven, so we recommend this option only for experienced and confident scooter riders.
For a more comfortable option, especially if you are travelling with family or carrying luggage or dive equipment, you can hire a car with a private driver. Daily rates generally start from around IDR 700,000–950,000, depending on the itinerary and duration.
Unlike Nusa Lembongan, cycling is not particularly practical for everyday transport in Nusa Penida due to the island’s size, hills and longer distances. For most visitors, a scooter or private car is the most convenient way to explore the island.
The weather in Nusa Penida is similar to Bali, with two distinct seasons: the wet season, generally from January to April, and the dry season, from May to December.
Fortunately, seasonal weather changes do not affect the presence of some of Nusa Penida’s most iconic marine life. Manta rays can be encountered year-round, particularly at Manta Point and Manta Bay.
Mola, however, are seasonal visitors. The best opportunities to encounter them are generally from mid-June through the end of October, when cooler water temperatures bring them closer to the reefs around Nusa Penida.
The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is the local currency. ATMs and money changers are available in several areas around Nusa Penida, although you will generally find better exchange rates and more options on mainland Bali. We recommend bringing some cash with you, as card payments may not be accepted everywhere on the island.
To stay connected during your visit, you can purchase an Indonesian SIM card, preferably before travelling to Nusa Penida, as there are more options available in Bali. Telkomsel and XL generally provide good mobile coverage on the island, although the signal can vary depending on your location.
Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels, restaurants and cafés across Nusa Penida, and of course, you can also stay connected while visiting Legend Diving.
Nusa Penida offers a spectacular island escape just off the coast of Bali, famous for its dramatic cliffs, beautiful beaches, traditional villages and incredible marine life. Despite its wild and unspoiled atmosphere, the island is easily accessible from Bali, with the fast boat journey from Sanur taking approximately 45 minutes.
Several transfer options are available depending on your budget and preferred schedule. Fast boats depart regularly from Sanur Harbour, making it easy to reach Nusa Penida throughout the day.
To make your journey as smooth as possible, Legend Diving has selected reliable fast boat operators for our daily transfers. We can assist you with arranging your boat tickets and transfers, so you can simply enjoy the journey and arrive ready to dive.
