PADI Speciality Course Penida

The reef is important not only to the marine life below but also to the world above. Many people don’t know how the reef affects everyday life on earth and why they are so important to us. During this specialty, you will learn about the complexity of coral reef and how we integrate them into our lives. In the same fashion, you will study we should protect them in order to help the ecosystem flourish. Having said this, we will also determine certain underwater and above water behaviors that will help save the coral reef.

Enrolling in the AWARE Fish Identification specialty gives you a head start in learning about these families and their habitats. Nusa Penida alone provides sanctuary to a variety of rare marine creatures, including the Mola mola. Together with your instructor, on 2 separate dives, you will study a variety of fish and how they are characterized. We will also determine how to surveil these fish families in order to keep track of certain behaviors. With this in mind, it is important to know how we can help to preserve marine life around the world.

Sharks have a major contribution to the ecosystem as a whole. During this specialty, you will study the value and importance of sharks to both marine and human life. With this being said, we will also look at why sharks are in decline and how to prevent a further decrease. This particular specialty can primarily be presented as a classroom exercise or can include 2 dives as well. On the positive side, we credit your first dive of this course as 1 adventure dive towards your AOWC course. Nusa Penida Island is home to a few different species, so a sighting is relatively high, especially at Manta Point. Look out for the local Bamboo sharks.

The PADI Equipment Specialist course will first teach you the technical side of diving equipment and how it operates. Secondly, we will look at how to make repairs or adjustments to scuba equipment. We recommend regular maintenance as it lessens the chance of damage and we will show you techniques to do so. Dive sites that look a certain way by daylight will transform by nightfall. Marine life that is most common on our daily dives will take shelter while the others come out to hunt. The scene is totally different and all we will see is what lies in front of our flashlight beams. During the course, you will first learn how to enter and exit the water for night diving. Second, we will focus on; controlling buoyancy, different hand signals used, buddy contact, and how to control light beams effectively. Whilst underwater we will practice navigation as well as how to identify marine creatures and their behaviors at night.

Divers who have good buoyancy will look more relaxed and in control of themselves underwater. They can hover on demand whether it be horizontally, vertically, or even upside down. In fact, divers who are buoyancy Gurus will also have much better air consumption! Obviously, this is something we all strive for. During the course, you will learn these skills together with an instructor through in-water training. In the first place, we will determine the exact weight you will need to use. Secondly, our equipment definitely makes a difference, and we will ensure you are streamlined and everything fits. Once we have the gear sorted, we will head to the water and start our journey in becoming a buoyancy hero.

During the PADI Search and Recovery specialty, the focus is on learning particular methods of finding specific objects underwater. Objects that are small, large, or just weird, can all be found given the right tools for the job. First, together with your instructor, you will determine how to choose which method would be most effective in the search. Second, we will practice different search patterns using both a compass and natural navigation. Finally, once the object is located, we will learn how to bring it to the surface using a lift bag. Keep in mind that we can also apply these search and recovery methods in a “lost buddy” situation, too.

The PADI Underwater Navigation specialty will firstly make you more aware of your surroundings every time you descend for a dive. Second, it will help you gain the confidence you need when using your compass underwater. It is a challenging course but is definitely worth the reward of the certification at the end. We will focus on compass use, natural navigation techniques, calculating distance underwater, map drawing underwater, and many more fun exercises. Once you have completed this program, you will gain the trust of your dive buddies on your next diving adventure.
